Lew Gilberti Memorial Scholarship

In order to recruit and retain the best students for the future of the Uptown Music Collective, scholarships are more important than ever. Please help pave the way for these deserving bright, young men and women, ages 12-18. The UMC in collaboration with the Lew Gilberti Family & Friends have embarked on a major campaign to initiate and strengthen the Lew Gilberti Memorial Scholarship Fund. Along with our LGMSF Advisory Board, we have established a goal of $40,000 for the first year. At this level, we could fund one $1,616 annual scholarship for many generations.

We honor Lew Gilberti through the LG Memorial Scholarship that was established by families and friends of musicians and other community leaders. Anyone can contribute to these endowments. It’s a wonderful way to honor Lew Gilberti while helping students reach their potential and learn to give back to their community.

First Lew Gilberti Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser A Success

In the picture to the left students pose with Carol Gilberti and family and friends after the successful kickoff fundraising event for the Lew Gilberti Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event was held on Sunday October 24, 2011 at the Son's of Italy in downtown Williamsport, and raised over $6,000 for the fund.

The Lew Gilberti Memorial Scholarship Fund will be used, once in place, to support students in need of funding for their Uptown Music Collective enrollment.

As part of the event, students performed for the friends and family who gathered to honor the memory of Lew Gilberti and to support the Uptown Music Collective. Performers included the duo of Nuria Hunter and Carly Gardner and the schools Classic Rock Workshop.
