At the Uptown Music Collective, we draw upon the powerful sounds of contemporary music and the artful subtlety of vocal jazz in a curriculum that balances a classical approach with the inspiring examples of modern virtuosos like Aretha Franklin and others.  Stressing the need to produce singers that are not only vocalists but also knowledgeable and versatile musicians, our voice instructors at the Uptown Music Collective combine practice, listening, and instruction to teach voice students how to interact musically within a band and perform powerfully from the stage and in the studio. Lessons are largely song-driven, as instruction is commonly based songs and pieces of music chosen by the student and the instructor to challenge and instruct. At the Uptown Music Collective, we seek to produce confident, capable singers with the skills necessary to create music in any variety of settings with accuracy, musicality, and soul.
