Music Classes

Classes at the Uptown Music Collective cover a wide range of topics, from the basics of music theory to college level classes like Chord Scale Theory and Arranging. Many classes are only offered one semester a year with the most required classes running in the Fall or Spring Semesters and most electives offered during the Summer Semester.
By offering instruction by knowledgeable professionals in a traditional classroom setting, the Uptown Music Collective seeks to balance the performance-oriented educational style of workshops and private lessons as well as prepare our students for the reality of collegiate music education. Classes are intensive educational opportunities instructed at a level higher than typical high school music classes, and emphasize careful study and discipline as concepts as diverse and polyrhythmic notation and classical arrangement are discussed in a formal setting.
Participation in regular classroom education is a vital part of the comprehensive Uptown Music Collective curriculum.
